Chinook Wines

Pepper Bridge

The second Walla Walla winery was Pepper Bridge where winemaker Jean-Francois Pellet (Changins Grad) and owner Norm Mckibben greeted the students with wine and an introduction to Pepper Bridge. The visit concluded with a trip to the famous Seven Hills vineyard where Norm explained the history of the vineyard

Woodward Canyon

The first stop in Walla Walla Washington was Woodward Canyon. The students were met by Kevin Mott who shared his knowledge of the winemaking process and the Washington wine industry. We finished the visit with a barrel tasting of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot

Phelps Creek Vineyards

 The students arrived at Phelps Creek to be greeted with a hay ride to the top of the estate which had a beautiful view of Mt Hood. Phelps Creek is a small production facility located in Hood River Oregon. This winery produces Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir.  IMG_0825IMG_0837

Chehalem

Thank you Chehalem for sharing your story and wines with the Summer University. We spent our time in the Ribbon Ridge vineyard where the students took a look at the oldest vines on the ridge. We finished the visit at the winery and tasted multiple clones of Rieslings and Pinot Noir.

Trisaetum

Thank you James Frey and Trisaetum for sharing your philosophy on winemaking and art. James explained how to make small lot fermentations, which leads to many opportunities in blending Pinot Noir and Riesling.
